Are you cleaning the high-touch surfaces in your workplace right? These areas need a little extra care in order to keep them clean and reduce the spread of germs.
What is a High-Touch Surface?
A high-touch surface is any surface area in your commercial space that gets touched multiple times a day by multiple people. These high-traffic surfaces include areas that many people have to touch every day, such as door handles, elevator buttons, copy machine buttons, and more. Because high-touch areas get so much traffic, they can cause germs and illness to spread quickly if they are not cleaned often. High-touch surfaces should be cleaned at least twice a day to reduce the spread of germs in your workplace.
Electronics
When possible, add a wipeable cover to the surface of electronics to make cleaning simple–just wipe down the surface like you do with other high-touch items. Keep a few computer cleaning kits on hand to make it easy to properly clean keyboards and screens regularly, and make sure that telephone receivers are cleaned often.
Soft Surfaces
Drapes, upholstered couches and chairs, and other soft surfaces get a lot of traffic and should be cleaned often. Anything that can go in the washing machine, like curtains and cushion covers, should be laundered regularly with a hypoallergenic detergent. Soft surfaces that can’t go in the washing machine, such as upholstery and carpeting, should be professionally cleaned at regular intervals to keep it looking its best. In between professional cleanings, gently wipe down upholstery with a warm, damp cloth and detergent.
Hard Surfaces
Hard surfaces such as door handles, faucets, light switches, and countertops can simply be wiped down with a disinfecting cleaning solution. Choose a plant-derived, non-toxic cleaner that does not contain any harmful chemicals.
